West Palm Beach is right on the ocean. It is the closest city to the gulf stream, which keeps the temperatures moderate. It stays breezy most of the year. It doesn’t usually get above 95 degrees in the summer. West Palm Beach is located on the Atlantic Ocean side of Florida.

there is a threat of hurricanes from June through November. Since I moved here two years ago, there has only been one significant storm threat. That hurricane came within ten miles of shore, but did no inland damage. The weather in general is beautiful and calm.

Upon moving to the city of West Palm Beach, in the south east of the Florida peninsula, one should consider the motives for the move. Retirees, or ‘Snowbirds’ as they are known locally, have the advantage of being able to take shelter from the unbearable humidity and heat in summer and drive or fly back up north until the cooler, more comfortable months arrive. on the other hand, a person accepting a job offer and relocating, may not have the option of escaping during times of inclement weather.

A car is a necessity in West Palm Beach for it is very spaced out, driving 30 minutes to reach one’s destination is a norm. The weather is a sticky, wet heat that one simply cannot prepare for, so bring light clothing. And last to note is the beaches! They are just as beautiful as the photos!
