Someone moving to Vancouver should know the weather is very rainy for most of the year. We do get hot summers and bouts of warm weather, but the majority of our weather is cold and rainy. We are on the Columbia River, north of Portland, Oregon. Living in Vancouver allows you to feel like you are part of a bigger city, while still living in a more suburban area. Vancouver is also very close to many outdoor recreation areas with hiking, camping, fishing, and other activities.

Vancouver, WA is a relatively large urban sprawl. The metro area has grown significantly in the last ten years and traffic has greatly increased. The local housing market is very high at the moment. Summers here have an average temperature of eighty degrees, while winters’ average temperature is about 30 degrees.

You’re close to Portland, there’s a lot of hiking and adventurous things to do. seattle is also only a few hours away-and there’s tons of sites to see and look at, along it’s a bunch of places to go, my favorite being pikes place. Also, be prepared for rain 90% of the year.

For those interested in moving to Vancouver, Washington, please know that it is not Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada. The weather and beauty may be the same, but the lesser-known of the two Vancouvers is on the Columbia River right next to Portland, Oregon. Vancouver is something of a bedroom community for those who want to work in Portland but can’t afford to live there.
