The city of Guwahati is the “Gateway to North-East India”. It has a vibrant urban built form with accessible public transportation, furnished residential buildings, well placed market places and shopping malls, and tons of recreational activity centers such as movie theaters and parks. Apart from all these amenities, I would like to stress on the brilliant temperature the city boasts of in the winter, which can be contrasted with the unreliable temperatures in the summer.

Soumya, says: 2020

Located on the southern bank of the river Brahmaputra, the city of Guwahati is the gateway to North-East India. It is the most urban city in the entire North-East India. The days are really hot during the summer and the city receives a good amount of rainfall during monsoons. It flaunts the rich natural beauty of its outskirts. The people are kind hearted with a great sense of hospitality.

Guwahati is a million city which receives a copious amount of precipitation. It is also hot and humid during much of the year and diseases like malaria and dengue are not uncommon. Traffic can be tedious and getting to workplaces a bit of a daily battle. In spite of these difficulties, it’s my home and where my bread and butter comes from.

Anyone moving here should remember the following:
1. Make an effort to learn the local language, not only does it aid in mingling with the local population, it also prevents one from getting duped.
2. The weather – it is nothing like anything one might have experienced in the other parts of the country, so carry an umbrella, for you never know when it might rain.
3. Prepare your taste buds – not only is my city home to the hottest chilli in the country, the local delicacies are hot and spicy too, so be prepared for a culinary journey which is bound to be hot and exotic.

Guwahati is known as the ‘Gateway to the Northeast’. It is on the south bank of the Brahmaputra, India’s longest river. The weather is humid throughout summer with frequent rainfall. Be prepared for floods during the monsoon. The city had a number of eating joints and nightclubs.

Rawnak, says: 2020

Someone moving to Guwahati should firstly consider the climate since it becomes very humid during summer and the temperature can reach a whooping 40°C. Secondly, they should consider job availability because even though my city is a metropolitan there is a dearth for jobs.

Jakubar, says: 2020

It is the gateway to the whole north-eastern states of India. It is surrounded by hills which provide a pleasant view but the weather is very humid during the monsoons. It provides all amenities of a modern city life with the usual traffic jams. Life does come to a standstill due to waterlogging even after a downpour of 30 minutes.
