Underberg is a village in the Southern Drakensberg. It has a small population and there are thus only a few shops. The weather in winter is extreme: very cold and dry. There are not many homes to rent close to the village but one can lease a number of cottages on nearby farms. Remember that most roads serving these rural communities are gravel and often fairly rough!

Underberg is in the Southern Drakensberg, a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Many of residents are dairy farmers, however the majority of the population relies on tourism for their income. The famous Sani Pass trade route (to the country of Lesotho) is a great tourist attraction in the town.
