This is a college town now with a lot of new drivers and adolescents. In the summer there are lots of festivals and events.

Binghamton is a relatively quiet city. Despite some of urban ideals like shopping centers and a large university, lots of areas are home to lush forests and several bodies of water. It is advisable to own a car or bike, however, as the bus system runs sparsely through the city. Nevertheless, Binghamton is a worthwhile place to settle down and escape the hectic nature of the metropolitan area.

Someone moving to Binghamton should know the city is actually quite small, being more of a suburban area with a contained downtown section. The city is dominated by Binghamton University, an institution responsible for most of the commerce and revenue that occurs within it, making it more of a college town than anything else. Most importantly, it is almost mandatory to drive if one chooses to reside in Binghamton, as the available public transportation is unreliable at best, and leaves much to be desired.
