Moving to Independence, one must consider the rich history of this large city. Independence, Missouri, is known as the “Queen City of the Trails” because the Santa Fe, California and Oregon trails originated here with the western migration beginning in the mid 1800’s. From the Independence Square’s uniqueness to the much-enjoyed walking trail, there is a lot to do and to enjoy in this large city. Home to the Presidential Library of Former President Harry S. Truman and his beautiful private home just west of the square where he and his wife, Bess Truman, lived most of their lives, there is a lot to learn and enjoy about this former president, This city is rich in architecture, diversity and history. My city was named in honor of the Declaration of Independence, my city has one of the largest genealogy libraries in the country, Independence has a sister city in Japan, Truman’s wife’s family built Truman’s home, and Independence hosted two civil war battles.
