The first thing anyone should know before moving to Buffalo is that the winters are cold and long. However, the city is also home to many historic buildings and entertainment venues. There are many good bars and restaurants, and breweries are especially popular. Toronto is only an hour and a half north of Buffalo, and other major cities are also nearby.

Buffalo is an incredibly friendly city, with plenty of things to do. Many would say it’s a great place to raise a family, as we have many beautiful communities and great schools. There is also a rich cultural history in Buffalo, especially our ties to art and architecture. Many opportunities exist here, for all walks of life.

Despite its reputation as a decadent “Rust Belt” city, Buffalo has worked had to renovate its waterfront in recent years, restoring its once-decrepit waterfront district into a luxurious lakeside oasis Canalside. Tourists flock in droves to Canalside in summer for kayaking, concerts, and even zip-lining between historic grain elevators; Canalside continues to be popular in winter, including such unique festivities as ice biking, ice fishing, and “polar-bear plunges” into the near-frozen Lake Erie for charitable causes. Buffalo offers far greater recreational activities than one would realize at a cursory glance.

Buffalo is a city that is known for its entertainment options, there are various events year-round. We are also known for our food, which is some of the best in the country. We may be a crowded city in certain areas, however, a short drive away will reveal beautiful parks, landscapes, and lush nature to relax in.

Buffalo is a surprising gem of a Rust Belt city, on the shores of Lake Erie. Revitalized in recent years by an influx of refugees, Buffalo has a bustling food scene. Downtown also has a newly redesigned Theater District, complete with an above-ground train that shuttles residents from downtown to the waterfront. During summer, Canalside is the place to enjoy waterfront concerts and festivals.
