Binghamton, New York, is a small town with quite a history. Not only is it the “carousel capital of the world,” it is the hometown of Twilight Zone creator Rod Serling. Binghamton is a relatively quiet city. Despite some of urban ideals like shopping centers and a large university, lots of areas are home to lush forests and several bodies of water. It is advisable to own a car or bike, however, as the bus system runs sparsely through the city. Nevertheless, Binghamton is a worthwhile place to settle down and escape the hectic nature of the metropolitan area.
