The abundance of greenery and trails makes for a nice drive or walk. The community deeply admires its Native American roots. Home of the Ojibwe people, the community does what it can to preserve their legacy. This includes posting Ojibwe translations of signs at school as well as maintaining a nearby historical park of an old fur trade. In 2001, a tornado tore through the town. Despite destroying most of the buildings in town, a sign of hope arose with the hundreds of sunflowers that popped up from the ground where the ruined town lay.

In Siren, everyone is friendly; coworkers feel like friends, and many people know each other. These close ties along with the overall gentle nature of the town strengthen the sense of community and belonging one feels while there. While weekends and holidays do get a little busy in Siren as people visit their cabins, it is nothing like Chicago.
