San Jose is a city where it rains considerably, so remember to bring your umbrella with you. Also, you’ll soon find it is complicated to drive through, as traffic is often tedious and heavy. However, it is close to the beach and to the mountains. It will be an interesting experience to visit during summer when the weather is beautiful to be outside.

To get to around the city, you’d have to be patient. Traffic can be a headache and can take a lot of your time, it’d better to be prepared to walk to visit anything you really need to see or even to run errands. The cheapest places to eat are the homemade food places, but be careful and avoid street food.

People who wants to move to San José should know is a City full of tourist attractions, and will be well received by the local population, because in Costa Rica we are known for being as we like to say “Pura Vida” (that means pure life), however the city it’s a little bit dangerous in some areas, for new residents, tourists or foreigners it could be a little scary so I recommend not to go out alone during the first months living here, at least not during the night.

Things tend to be very expensive. Also, traffic is heavy and the time to move from one point to another can be a lot, even if it’s just to cover a few miles. Apart from that, this town is quite and people are welcoming.
