The weather is very bipolar and can change in the snap of your fingers. It is cold 70% of the year.

Everything is within 10 minutes…yet you are mostly in a countryside setting.

Quiet state capital, good hospital, a variety of restaurants and close to the mountains and the beach.

The most important thing to know before moving to Salem, is living here is a gift. Salem is geographically convenient for experiencing all of Oregon due to its proximity to Portland and the Coast. The natural beauty and people that Oregon’s capital is composed of, makes living here an incredible opportunity and gift.

This city has several parks (big and small): a riverfront park, Bush Park and other parks which people like to go to. Bush Park is really big. it has an upper and lower section. The upper section consists of a derby track, a play area at the far end, a small store that sells different items. The lower section consists of a tennis court, a softball field, a kid play area. bathrooms and around the perimeter is a path in which joggers/walkers can go around. Minto Brown Park is really big and has walking/bike paths, a play area and a dog park (all grass). We also have a bowling alley, movie theaters, a downtown mall with other stores that sell different merchandise.

Salem is a smaller town than most would imagine, especially since it’s the state’s capital. However, there is a lot to see and do, especially outdoors. For outdoor lovers, there are plenty of nearby farms, parks, and camping spots to enjoy. In addition to having lots to do outdoors, there is also a lively local scene where one can enjoy music, books, yoga, and more!

Salem is a perfectly-sized small city that is in the Willamette Valley of western Oregon. The combined population of the Salem-Keizer area is approximately 150,000. It is ideally situated, being approximately one hour from Portland, one hour from the Oregon coast, and two hours from the mountains of central Oregon.
