Campinas is not a small town. There are safe neighborhoods with great restaurants, malls, coffee shops and health system. My doctors speak English; and when you approach locals who don’t speak English they do their best to assist you. Saying the violence rate is high sounds too unfair. It is; but not everywhere. Think NY, LA, Houston, Boston. you need to know where to go. Great schools, but private. Cute smaller towns nearby. Not far from the coast and highways are usually good. This is known as the Brazilian Silicon Valley. Many multinational enterprises are here. The airport has some international flights; it is the biggest cargo airport in LatAm and is well connected with domestic flights to most of the Brazilian cities.

Caroline, says: 2023

A person moving to Campinas should know the violence here is high and the city is not considered a safe place to walk around after 6pm.

Gabriela, says: 2020

Before moving to Campinas, it is essential to be aware that there is a tropical climate, hardly anyone speaks English, and the crime rate is extremely high. On the plus side, the cost of living is very low, there is little traffic, and Campinas has several internationally recognized graduate schools.
