Not only known as the birthplace of George Lucas and the Gallo family Winery.
There are family farmers, that go back several generations. Swiss, Dutch, Portuguese, immigrants who came here to start a better life, on farms that include dairies, almonds, walnuts, corn silage, alfalfa and many more. Fruit stands, farmers market, entertainment, great restaurants and halfway between Yosemite and San Francisco.
The people are friendly. The weather is nice, the seasons are pretty predictable. There are beautiful big trees in the city limits, each fall they are almost as beautiful as the trees of our East Coast States. Summers are hot, so you can visit several lakes and reservoirs, less than an hours drive, water ski, rent a houseboat or fish!
We tend to cool down at night thanks to the Delta breeze that blows in from The Pacific Ocean. You can fish in the Delta, we aren’t far from Stockton, and 90 miles from our California State Capitol in Sacramento. We are close to the Gold Country plan on visiting Sonora, Twain Harte, Jamestown, La Grange, and Coulterville to name a few.
La Grange has the first Catholic church built in Stanislaus County, Saint Louis Mission was built in the 1850’s by French gold miners, is still being used today, a little original graveyard is here to explore in this sweet little town.
Modesto is just a wonderful hub for exploring our beautiful state.
