The city of Pittsburg is known for its history of coal mining. It sits just south of the Sacramento and San Joaquin Rivers. The rivers were used as a trading route to ship coal to other cities. Pittsburg has become a popular city over the years as gentrification moves people out of the immediate San Francisco Bay Area, mostly due to living expenses growing far greater than what people can afford.

Someone moving to Pittsburg, CA, should know it lies near the end of the Sacramento River where it flows into the Carquinez Strait. It is at the south end of the Inland Delta of the river. It wants was an important merchant shipping port. It is a small town with a good view of Mt. Diablo.
