Apartments in Japan are going to be very small if you’re used to living in suburban or countryside housing in your home country. Housing within the JR Osaka Loop Line will be slightly more expensive than renting outside of the loop line. The south end of Osaka city is considered more touristy and less upscale in general, as the business district is more towards the north end (meaning the housing will more expensive).

If someone moves to Osaka, the person should know Osaka is quite a traditional Japanese city. Its culture and people are not very welcoming to foreigners. In the suburb area, lots of the elderly hold extreme nationalism and prejudice against non-native residents. As a result, my advice would be getting used to the language and social etiquette as much as you can before moving here.
