Houston is known for it’s diversity and considered one of the best places to live in Texas due to it’s affordability. Before moving to Houston, it’s recommended that one has living arrangements ready and a vehicle with insurance, and gas ready, prior to moving here. While Houston does have a public transportation system, it’s very congested and not convenient for the type of distances between places. It’s also important to know how to navigate the tropical storms and floods that occurs every now and then. On the flip side, Houston tends to have a lower than average cost of living and is considered a food haven for any culture or palate.

The community in Harris County shares a unique culture and is very interconnected. It has gone through many adversaries and time and time again, the community proved its persistence. People set up food drives, donation centers, and recovery teams to help those affected by the storm’s water.

When people talk about Houston it is easily described as high traffic and hurricane prone. Hurricanes do not come every year and it is a lottery if one comes. Houston has the friendliest people. For a city of millions it tries to keep the hometown feel.

Like all cities, Houston has advantages and disadvantages. Its primary advantages are a low cost of living, especially for such a large city, and a very friendly business environment, if you are interested in starting a business. Its primary disadvantages are a very hot climate, the risk of hurricanes, and a lack of interesting sites and activities for tourists.

It is beautiful to see the community in Houston, from the coming together of peaceful protests in the last few months, the happiness of the world series win back in 2017, and when Hurricane Harvey ravaged the city, people from different backgrounds coming together and helping each other rebuild the city.

When buying a home in Houston, consider that the city is quite susceptible to flooding. public transportation in Houston isn’t nearly as well-developed as many other large cities, so it is advisable to own a car. Luckily, gas is much cheaper here than in other cities.

Within walking distance from the park lies the home of the 2017 MLB World Series Champions. The Houston Astros gave Houston a blessing after hurricane Harvey hit. This caused the community to have hope and to keep pushing and striving to recover from the damages. As diverse and unique as the city of Houston is, it is one big close family. People are active and social within the community. One of the best restaurants/social gatherings to take place is in “The Rustic”. This industrial-themed restaurant is always packed.

Someone who wants to move to Houston should it is overcrowded, busy, and dirty. However, despite the ugly exterior, the people are worth the move. Houstonians are kind and giving. When hurricane Harvey hit, everyone came together to help one another. People were offering everything they could to complete strangers.
