Bacolod is the capital City or Negros Occidental in the Philippines. It is known as the city of smiles because or it’s MassKara Festival a Mardi Gras-like festival and a spectacularly vivid mix of dance, color and music. The name Bacolod was derived from the Hiligaynon word, Buklod meaning stonehill, as the city was first set up on a stonehill. Due to Moro (Muslim) raids it was then transferred to the shoreline. The original town is now called Daan-Banwa meaning Old Town.

It is the City of Smiles because of its MassKara Festival, a Mardi Grass-like festival, and a spectacularly vivid mix of dance, color, and music. Bacolod is known as the Land of Sweet People, and for its culinary heritage, including its inasal (a kind of roast chicken on skewers) and sweet dessert treats.

One of the colorful festival here is what we call Masskara Festival, where there are dancer dancing on the streets wearing colorful mask.

A lot of tourists visit our city since we have parties, concerts, and the highlight which is street dancing. You can feel the warm welcome from everyone, with all smiles on their faces. We are also famous for our deliciously sweet desserts. People love our napoleones, which is a layered puff pastry with custard cream inside. You will surely love to visit my city.
