This small city is located just over two hours from the beach, the mountains and the bigger cities, well populated with military retirees from other States as well as other countries/continents, England, Germany, Asia etc. For some reason we’re fortunate to miss out on the extremes of the really hot weather and the really cold weather and, combined with the (normally) low cost of living, it makes Martinez a great place to live for families, singles or retirees.

New residents to the Martinez area are often educated by the native residents to the correct pronunciation of Martinez. Martinez was named after the Jose Martinez y Saldivar from Cuba. He was a very wealthy man who relocated here and bought a plantation home. His daughter married a famous Dr.in the area.

It is an excellent place to raise children. There are many schools that offer excellent programs and a great learning environment for students. The community also has great playgrounds and several social groups that mothers can attend. The crime rate is low, and parents feel safe raising their children in this area.

Martinez, GA is less than 10 miles from Augusta, which is where the Masters Tournament takes place. This is the most prestigious tournament on the PGA Tour. Augusta is also home of the Augusta Green Jackets, a Minor League Baseball team within the San Francisco Giants organization. Martinez is also within 20 miles from the South Carolina state border.
