The people who are coming to my city must keep an open mind. If they’re looking for a place to enjoy nightlife and modern infrastructure, then they will be gravely disappointed. For communication, either Hindi or English or even Manipuri is a must. Imphal is not a crime-free zone so they should remember to lock their doors and houses.

Imphal is the capital of Manipur which is one of the North Eastern States of India. Diesel Auto Rickshaws take common routes around the city. “Manipuri” is the major language in Imphal, followed by Hindi and English respectively. Outsiders are advised not to venture out on the outskirts of the city especially at night because the area has been affected by internal and international armed conflict for the past 40 years. If you are moving over to Imphal, the safest place will be in the heart of the city where security details and police patrols are highest.

It is a small city with diverse ethnic groups. We have more than 60 dialects. The people are very good. The aura is amazing. The food and culture is remarkable. Being a small city, finding a job is a big hurdle. But as a tourist spot, it is remarkable. We are not much developed in technological features yet.

Hindi as a language is not widely spoken here so knowing how to speak English will be beneficial for better communication with the local people. In addition there is no nightlife in Imphal but compared to other states of India it is a lot safer here especially for women.
