What are the most common languages spoken in Gatineau, Québec?

Gatineau is located just a stone’s throw across the river from Ottawa, Canada’s capital city. It is primarily a French-speaking city, although being so close to the province of Ontario, many people also speak and understand English. There is a large park situated in the middle of the city, which provides many beautiful trails and lakes that can be explored throughout the seasons.

If one wishes to move to Gatineau, they should be adequately prepared for immersion in the French language. Although I live just 5 minutes outside of Ontario, the general public naturally assumes I am Francophone! An individual looking to move here should also be prepared for the unforgiving winters. As Gatineau is fairly far north, the winters are quite harsh and bitter. Lastly, those considering Gatineau as their new home should be prepared to fall in love with the quaint yet bustling energy that is ever present here.
