Abuja which is the Federal Capital Territory of Nigeria is the seat of power as it houses all federal political institutions. It is mostly populated by politicians and the rich including indigenes and foreigners alike making the standard of living expensive compared to other cities. Abuja has a beautiful landscape for sightseeing and tourism as it is marked by hills and rocks, notably the Aso Rock. It is located towards the northern part of the country where the Hausa language is mostly spoken by locals apart from the English language.

Abuja is a culturally dynamic city. The dominant language is hausa.it’s quite expensive to live in and life moves very fast. We have one pretty good roads and nice estates but, like anywhere else, we have slums and dirt roads riddled with potholes. Life can be simple or complicated depending on your lifestyle.

Hausa language is a plus to learn and pidgin English is commonly spoken. The city has a relaxed atmosphere and a buzzing nightlife especially on the weekends.

Moving to Abuja, like every other city in the world, is a whole lot of work. However, Abuja is has peculiar challenges which such a person must be aware of. Firstly, crime rate in this city is a big challenge so movements should be done during the day. Secondly, things are a bit on the high side when comparing cost with other cities in Nigeria. Finally, it will do you a lot of good to master he Hausa language as most inhabitants of the city are Northerners who communicate better in Hausa.

Abuja is a beautiful one. It is the capital of Nigeria. It is surrounded by trees, hills and the infamous Olumo Rock from which the bubbling nightlife can be seen. The landscape of the city is organised in such a way that almost everyone resides in gated communities know as estates. To fully enjoy the privileges that living in this city brings, it is imperative that one learns the local dialects; Hausa and Gbagyi. The only downside to living in Abuja are the extreme weather; when it’s hot it’s blistering hot and when it’s cold it’s deathly cold. Regardless, Abuja is a beautiful city that I’m happy and proud to live in.

The popular bus-stops know are Berger, Jabi Park, Zuba and Area 1. Central Business District is the location for most companies and government bodies in Abuja. Although Abuja is an English-speaking city, you will probably want to learn how to speak Hausa as most local shops and stores are owned by Hausa merchants. Also, you should get a car for easy movement in the city. The city has a wide road network suitable for motorists.
