Lagos is a typical Portuguese city in the southern region of Portugal called the Algarve. Whilst there is a multicultural community, it is still a thriving Portuguese city and, therefore, it is recommended that anybody moving to live there ought to learn at least the basics of the Portuguese language. Whilst the cost of living in the country is relatively low, the Algarve relies heavily upon tourism with a short season which is often less than six months of the year, therefore, work can be difficult to obtain and is normally only seasonal.

Nevertheless, the Portuguese are very friendly and welcoming, however, anybody wishing to live here permanently would need to consider their long term income as rentals in particular can be expensive and property in general is increasing rapidly in value particularly as the country is now considered the 3rd safest county in which to live with a lovely year-round good climate and beautiful, unspoilt beaches and countryside.
