Lincoln is rich in history. Lincoln cathedral was the tallest building in the world at the time of its completion. It held this title until the central slide collapsed, had this not have happened, it would have retained the title until the building of the Eiffel Tower in Paris. Neighbouring the cathedral is lincoln castle, also built by the Romans, and currently holds 1 of 4 remaining pieces of the Magna Carta.

Lincoln is known for many things: the great Lincolnshire sausage; talented performers like Jim Broadbent; its historic cobbled streets, castle, and cathedral. These are all worthy of admiration and respect, and the citizens of Lincoln are proud of each in their own right, but the most important thing for a newcomer to note is Steep Hill. Notoriously flat, the county of Lincolnshire has just one hill. Thus with nothing to compare it to, it was named Steep Hill.

This city is home to incredibly rich history so one should expect to be surrounded by an abundance of culture and beautiful sights. These include attractions such as castles, cathedrals and old victorian shops to continue with the rustic aesthetic the older part of town provides. Although there is much of the town that is new and modern, the history is still incorporated with many dedicated commemorative areas.

The city is fantastic for historical sightseeing as it includes many locations of historical and cultural significance. Historical sites in the city include, but are not limited to: a castle with castle walls, a large cathedral and Roman ruins. The city attracts 100,000s of tourists.
