Someone moving here should know it has the largest railway station in India and it also has the largest printing press known as “Gita Press”. my city has a railway museum where one can gain knowledge of the history of railways and an ancient temple known as “Gorakhnath temple”.

Gorakhpur is well connected by road, railways and flight. The people here are quite friendly and welcoming. Since it is very close to Nepal, one can easily visit awesome places like Kathmandu, Pokhara and Lumbini. Further, Kushinagar which is nearby, is a place where the Buddha had presided and is famous for its Buddhist sites. Nowadays, with setting up of ‘Smart City’ project, All India Institute of Medical Sciences and reopening of the fertilizer factory, there are plenty of jobs and better facilities for healthcare.

Gorakhpur can’t be called much of a city as it can be a town. As my town is quite a crowded one and absolutely not quiet, anyone moving here should be ready for lack of space, both physical and mental. Being a cramped town in the second largest populated state in India, it has many opportunities for someone looking for a job, although maybe not so much for one looking for a career. Living in Gorakhpur has its pros and cons, and once you begin to get comfortable, which is a little difficult, especially if you come from a metropolitan city and are not used to getting unsolicited opinions, you would love the people and the culture.

The city is under development. Flats on rent are pocket friendly and environment is peaceful. Also, the city has some of the religious places. Roadside food should be ignored though. It’s a great place.

Living in Gorakhpur, is like living in any other town in India. It is one of the best places to live in Northern India, if you are government employee. The city is developing at a good pace though some areas are underdeveloped, roads are not sufficient to facilitate traffic flow, resulting in more traffic-jam, especially near Golghar market area. There is SRS Mall for shopping and fun purposes, Gol Ghar market has been a reputed place for all materials from household to clothes and others. Special mention if you are a non-vegetarian and in dire need to eat chicken, go to Sardar’s shop in Golghar market area, you will find a delicious appetite. Do visit for once at the Gorakhnath Temple and Buddha Nagar, these are some pretty good places. If you happen to be a family person with kids, ICSE schools are more reputed here than CBSE, prefer likewise.

Gorakhpur has been a centre of spirituality in this region. The city has a huge temple complex which has severed multiple roles over the years, the most famous being a community gathering spot. The Nepalese border is close by and regular buses make the overnight trip. The city is predominantly in a Hindu majority area, so most of the architecture and buildings are influenced by it.
