The city has just over 200,000 residents and is a suburb of Phoenix, Arizona. Gilbert is a wonderful place for young families due to its affordable homes and popular recreation department.

Ranked by the Federal Bureau of Investigation as one of the safest towns in the United States, Gilbert is a suburb located approximately 30 miles from Phoenix, the capital of Arizona. Future residents should consider the cost of living, as it is relatively more expensive to reside in Gilbert than in its neighboring cities of Mesa, Phoenix, or Glendale. Ideal for families, Gilbert prioritizes safety and provides a strong public education system for its residents. Parks, recreation centers, and family-friendly events are also at the core of the town’s ideals. The enhanced order, structure, safety, and opportunities that Gilbert provides are well-worth the higher cost of living when considering the pros and cons.

Anyone considering a potential move to Gilbert or anywhere in the Phoenix metro area should consider the extreme summer heat before making a decision. With temperatures reaching upwards of 120 degrees Fahrenheit in summer, living in the desert is not for everyone. Thankfully, swimming pools are abundant, with community pools in most neighborhoods, and there is easy access to nearby lakes and rivers to help escape summer heat.

Gilbert is a beautiful city. It has some of the best schools in the state, and is consistently ranked as one of the best places in the country to raise children. However, the rapid growth of this Phoenix suburb has caused the cost of living to skyrocket, making it among the most expensive places in the state.
