Does Buda have a downtown? Is it vibrant? Is it safe? Here's what two local experts had to say about downtown in Buda, Texas.

The biggest issue with living in Buda is commute time. If you’re moving to Buda, you’re probably doing so because you got a job in Austin. On maps, Buda seems fairly close to downtown Austin, and it is, assuming you only count physical distance. However, once you factor in the Austin rush hour, what would otherwise have been a 20-minute commute can quickly balloon to an hour. Thus, it’s important to keep in mind that Buda is a great town if you work odd hours or remotely, but if you’re planning to work a traditional 9-5 job, you’d better be prepared to spend an hour and a half to two hours in traffic every workday.

Buda is a budding town. It’s beginnings as a rural city in central Texas adds to the charm and character felt upon entering downtown. The H-E-B supermarket is always well stocked with low priced brand names and Buda houses a perfect mix of national chains and Mom and Pop restaurants and retail. Of you want to be close to both Austin and San Antonio and not sacrifice convenience or cost, Buda is for you.
