Being a small town of no note in the Welsh hills, Cwmbran is lacking in most areas any youthful person might think important when considering a change of location. The hills are brown and barely moderate – certainly not steep – and the industrial views atop them are not pretty, even on cloudless days. Newcomers should expect rain often and bring with them several hardy umbrellas. Wellington boots, too. They will surely need them.

Cwmbran is a small town in South Wales, not too far from the English border. It began as a number of small villages but in the fifties it was designated a new town and houses were built to accommodate the families who moved there from the valleys looking for work. The architecture of the housing estates won awards, but they now look very dated. Cwmbran is known as the home of the roundabout.
