If moving to Coimbra then it’s highly advisable to keep in mind that it’s called ‘o cidade dos estudantes (the city of students)’ for a reason. Be prepared to often have your daily life interrupted by parades, street festivals and student hazing sessions. While the constant partying may be ideal for some, those that prefer a calmer quality of life may not find it as perfect as initially envisioned.

If you’re moving to Coimbra, the main thing know is that it’s primarily a student city, well known for the University. In fact, the University belltower is the official symbol of Coimbra, and can be seen on the large majority of its merchandise! The city is also incredibly old, and as such was built on large hills and mountains. Walking anywhere is sure to prove to be a challenge to anyone not prepared for it!
