Someone moving to the city of Bloomington-Normal should know a couple of things before moving to the area. One being, there is more food options than anywhere in the United States, per capita. The other being that it is a college town. That being said, the students that live here can be quite annoying!

Bloomington, Illinois, is a city in central Illinois. It is home to the corporate headquarters of State Farm Insurance and Country Financial as well as Illinois State University. It is also the 12th most populated city in Illinois. Bloomington is about 136 miles south of Chicago, Illinois. There are many activities such as riding a bike or taking a walk on the Constitution Trail, visiting one of the many restaurants, or visiting the Children’s Discovery Museum.

Bloomington combines small town charm with a lot of benefits of living in a city. It is the headquarters of the largest auto insurance company in the United States, has a local airport, and together with its twin city of Normal, has the most restaurants per capita in the country. Home to two fine educational institutions, Illinois State University and Wesleyan College, and a ton of local history, Bloomington is worth a visit.

Should you ever move to Bloomington, keep in mind that there are several one-way streets. Veterans Parkway, the major commercial street, has a variety of restaurants and retail stores that make this city a common shopping ground for neighboring, rural areas. I enjoy the quiet yet lively ambiance of the downtown. If major cities are too much for you, but rural areas aren’t enough, Bloomington, IL is the perfect place for you.

Although it may not seem luxurious at first sight, moving to the city of Bloomington (Illinois) will be the most rewarding experience. Being the home to State Farm Insurance and many other prospering businesses, Bloomington offers its residents a plethora of high-paying jobs. housing is more than affordable with the average cost for a two-story house being just under 200,000 (USD). But worry not, the money saved on housing can be spent on famous restaurants such as Portillo’s, Noodles and Company, and Olive Garden. Bloomington offers a quiet and affordable lifestyle while having all of the glam of a big city.

Bloomington is a medium-sized city in Central Illinois with many large companies and universities making their homes here. We are located two hours south of Chicago and two hours west of Indianapolis, so there are many travel options for any direction you wish to take. We are famous for being the corporate headquarters of State Farm Insurance.
