Sacramento is not a metropolis; it’s not even a large city. What it lacks in location, though, it makes up for in proximity. Sacramento is approximately two hours by car from San Francisco, two hours from the ocean, two hours from ski resorts in the Sierra Nevada, two hours from Lake Tahoe. It’s ideally situated for people who enjoy short visits to amazing places.

Sacramento is a valley. All people considering residence here should be prepared for a dry dusty grassland, with allergens galore. In summer, it is extremely hot, and sunscreen should be on hand. The community here is friendly, although the heat makes me irritable. Our county is proud of its Gold Rush heritage, although I pity those who sought gold in this weather.

Someone moving to Sacramento should know how simply great of the city is. Compared to larger cities like Los Angeles and San Francisco, Sacramento is a more laid-back and slower-paced city. The suburbs are a great place to raise a family, without being too far from the actions of everyday outings and activities. Trips to neighboring cities, beaches, or even mountains can all be done in the same day due to its central location.
