Before moving to Norfolk, VA, people should know the community is incredibly diverse. The city is divided into areas that are labeled with green signs, and each area has its own atmosphere. Norfolk is a part of the broader Hampton Roads community which encompasses Virginia Beach, Suffolk, Chesapeake, Hampton, Newport News, and Portsmouth. This region of the state is called Hampton Roads because we are along the Chesapeake River and all its inlets. Locals lovingly refer to the area as The Seven Cities.

Norfolk is the home of the largest naval base in the world. Approximately 20% of the US Navy is stationed here. We live in a lovely revitalized neighborhood near the beach. It’s unlike any other neighborhood in the area. We love living here because it’s a very open and dog-friendly neighborhood.
