Pedestrian-friendly Georgetown, Penang’s capital, is a city that is just so interestingly vibrant. There is a wealth of creativity here, with atmospheric temples, street art-filled streets, bright trishaws and mega malls found abundantly in this beach town. A great destination for gourmet travellers, it is one of the best places in the country for food, with all types of cuisine represented – whether you are looking to sample local hawker delights, haute French cuisine or fine dining western fusion food.

The first thing they should consider will be the mode of transportation that they would like to use to move about in the city. Despite being in the heart of a small island, unfortunately Georgetown does not have the best public transport services. If driving were to be an option, one has to brace themselves to horrendous road ethics that the locals have here (e.g., not indicating when they are about to turn and running red lights) and traffic jams during peak hours. Or the other option is to go by foot. A gentle reminder will be having sunscreen for the hot and sunny days.

Another factor to consider would be the budget and the type of amenities that they would want in the place they would choose to rent or purchase. Would it be for a family? Would they prefer renting or buying one of those beautiful heritage houses in town? Or an apartment that is a 10 minutes drive from the heart of town but comes with a pool, gym, amazing view for a rent of 200 USD a month?
