Just a quick tip for anyone out there looking to move to Abuja, the capital city of Nigeria; stay curious!

As a native born and raised in Nigeria’s young capital, I can say that the biggest mistake visitors or new settlers make is limiting their experience of the capital to the very small Central Business District. Abuja is such a peaceful, beautiful scenic town with cascading mountains forming a protective shield that gives room for inhabitants to explore the sights, sounds and taste of the city. Cost of living is considerably priced for city life and you will find that your expenses can be well managed on an average budget of $750 to $1500 each month for a family of 4. Housing is usually priced annually for long-term settlers. Business travelers have a myriad of hotel and short stay boutiques to pick from that can range from pocket friendly $40 to top of the range $150 – $250 spots.

The staycation and adventure seekers can learn more from content creators such as @AbujaCityTourist, @SeeAbuja @WakawakaNnenna. Also visits to the Abuja Arts and Crafts Village would open a world or treasures and rare art finds from across the continent.

Again, stay curious, stay adventurous and safe and as we say in Nigeria; “Shine your eyes!”

The cost of living is high in Abuja. Mortgage is high. Security is good here. It’s a beautiful city with modern infrastructure. Movement can be frustrating without your personal car.
Beautiful environment, good for tourism. Corruption is high here. Be warned.

In moving here, you have to be sure that the process altogether doesn’t put you at any financial risk. This is in no small part due to the high costs of housing and almost extortionate maintenance fees and taxes. Although, living in my city has been linked with higher levels of productivity as it’s the modernized hub of commerce in my country.

1. Abuja is the capital of Nigeria and so the cost of living here is relatively high so you might want to check your bank account before moving her. The cost of housing, feeding, and transportation is something you’ll want to consider.

2. Also, Abuja can be really hot at times so you have to be ready to deal with the weather in Abua.

Nevertheless, Abuja is a beautiful city filled with friendly people.

Based on my assessment, someone moving here should pay attention to his budget. This is because of the high cost of living in my city. The lion’s share of one’s earning is mostly spent on accommodation, feeding and transportation. Therefore I would advise a low income earner to look out for surrounding suburban areas around my city that are quite affordable.

Abuja has a wonderful variety of malls, supermarkets, and open markets. There are a lot of luxury and budget hotels in Abuja to cater to your needs. Abuja’s cityscape is defined by hills and rocks. Taxis are easily accessible at street sides and travel all routes in the city.

Abuja is one of the most beautiful cities in Nigeria, but the cost of living is very high. For younger people who are unpaid interns or have entry level professional jobs and are supporting themselves, the city is pricey and it may be difficult to find a good area to live in within the city that will meet your budget.
