Just a quick tip for anyone out there looking to move to Abuja, the capital city of Nigeria; stay curious!

As a native born and raised in Nigeria’s young capital, I can say that the biggest mistake visitors or new settlers make is limiting their experience of the capital to the very small Central Business District. Abuja is such a peaceful, beautiful scenic town with cascading mountains forming a protective shield that gives room for inhabitants to explore the sights, sounds and taste of the city. Cost of living is considerably priced for city life and you will find that your expenses can be well managed on an average budget of $750 to $1500 each month for a family of 4. Housing is usually priced annually for long-term settlers. Business travelers have a myriad of hotel and short stay boutiques to pick from that can range from pocket friendly $40 to top of the range $150 – $250 spots.

The staycation and adventure seekers can learn more from content creators such as @AbujaCityTourist, @SeeAbuja @WakawakaNnenna. Also visits to the Abuja Arts and Crafts Village would open a world or treasures and rare art finds from across the continent.

Again, stay curious, stay adventurous and safe and as we say in Nigeria; “Shine your eyes!”

Abuja is the capital of Nigeria, and the seat of government of Nigeria. It’s in the heart of the country, bound by Kogi, Nassarawa, Nigeria and Kaduna states. Abuja has different beautiful sites to visit, such as Zuma rock, National Children Park and Zoo, Usman Dam, Transcorp Hilton hotel, Sheraton hotel, Arts and Crafts Village, etc. Abuja is a lovely city.

An individual moving here should know the exorbitant lifestyle and mannerism of the city. despite the high cost of living, Abuja is fun to live in as there are umpteen mind-blowing places and events available in the city (e.g., Wonderland, Transcorp Hilton, Zuma Rock, etc.). There are also fascinating tourist attractions in the city that leaves an individual with a didactic impact. Among these are the Alex Ekwueme Art Gallery, Ladi Kwali Pottery Centre and the likes. Ultimately, a person wishing to live in Abuja should learn to mind his/her business as the hustle and bustle in the city leaves no one with a trivial moment. My final advisory message to the individual is and smart.

The city is quiet. It lacks the hustle and bustle of developed cities, but there are enough clubs for club goers and nightcrawlers. It is also safe in terms of security. We have surveillance cameras and police men for security reasons. Since it is a developing city, with new structures coming up everyday, construction workers, artisans, painters, etc seem to find work easily. Engineers and architects will find the city viable.
