Downtown is where many of the businesses in town are. Downtown Anderson has a theater called the Paramount. Its ceiling looks like the sky. The symphony plays there and there are Halloween and Christmas shows. They also have other events there, such as fundraisers and proms.

Anderson, Indiana, has restaurants, a library, and nice parks, some old houses that look like doll houses, and a theater. There is a restaurant called the lemon drop that has burgers and milkshakes. There is a drive up hot dog stand where you can get floats. There is a snow cone place called Snow Castle. There is a place called Build Your Own Burrito, where you can choose all of your toppings for tacos, burritos and more.

Anyone moving here should know it is a dying town. Jobs are in very high decline because of outsourcing of jobs to foreign countries. The outsourcing has particularly hurt Anderson because Anderson is relying on factory jobs more than most cities do. Anderson was also always a small town without much economic activity even before the outsourcing. It is difficult to make a living in this city.

The library has every book you could ever want, and if they do not they put it on a purchasing list to get for you. They have a computer lab and movies. You can also rent books online. They have ebooks, and audiobooks that you can rent on the library website. Anderson has two parks: Shadyside and Mounds. Mounds is where Indians used to live. Mounds is named that because the Indians build mounds to use as burial grounds. It is a wonderful park to take walks at. They have a public pool and campground. The White River also runs through Mounds. It has a hill that is open for everyone to go sledding on when it snows.

Shadyside Memorial Park has a lake that you can walk around, kayak, and fish in. There is also a big playground there. Both parks have very nice trails and trees. They are very good places to take pictures, paint or have picnics. On 8th St. there are beautiful houses that look like doll houses. During the winter, when the Christmas lights are on, it looks beautiful. That part of town is called the Historical District.

Someone moving to my home city should know it’s a very diverse city. They should also know that it’s residents who know each other are very close and will always be there for one another in times of need. However, there are some people who do not care and have hidden intentions in their interactions with their friends. I would also want them to know our public high school is underfunded because our state senator prefers to fund private schools.

Anderson is has an incredibly rich history. It was once a booming General Motors town, but now it is home to the Anderson Speedway, Mounds State Park, Main Stage Theater. There are plenty of trails, hiking, and a variety of outdoor activities for the nature enthusiast. Mounds State Park has beautiful trails, campgrounds, and a rich history of the Hopewell Indians.
