Aizawl is a small city perched high on the hills of northeast India. There are two ways to reach the city, either by air, or by road. There is a lone airport nestled among the mountains with one of the shortest runways, and the airport has often been listed among one of the most dangerous ones in the country. Landing can be a nail-biting affair for those unaccustomed to such a precariously situated airport. If one decides to take the road instead, they should brace themselves for a very long and bumpy ride through winding, mountainous terrain. The roads, for the most part, are in bad condition, and zig zag through tall mountains with deep ravines and gorges interspersing the way. For anyone moving to Aizawl, it is most important to ready themselves for the challenging journey into it and once that’s done, the rest of it will be a breeze. People are welcoming, life is simple, and the climate is nice and balmy for most of the year.

Aizawl is the capital of Mizoram, one of the north-eastern states of India. The most important thing that you need to know is that don’t plan anything that is bound to be done on Sundays because all commercial places will be closed and everyone will be marching to their respective churches when the bell rings.
